Spring Arbor, Lindsey Wilson to be Showcased in Tourbeau's Game of The Week
With the start of the college soccer season upon us, Tourbeau Sports Group along with the NSCAA and Admiral Soccer had the first game broadcast of the 2013 season.
“Tourbeau’s National Men’s Soccer Game of the Week, presented by NSCAA and Admiral Soccer” featured NAIA competition between Spring Arbor (Mich.) and No. 3 Lindsey Wilson (Ky.) on Thursday, Aug. 22.
In 2012, the Lindsey Wilson Blue Raiders finished 22-2 overall and cruised into the tournament semifinals before falling by a goal to the eventual champions, Belhaven University.
Coming into this season, the Mid-South Conference preseason coaches’ poll has Lindsey Wilson picked to win the conference title in 2013, putting the team in a familiar position. The Blue Raiders are no strangers to the winner’s circle, having won or tied for the Mid-South Conference regular season title 10 times.
The Spring Arbor Cougars also found success in 2012. With a 16-4-2 finish and an appearance in the 2012 NAIA National Championship Tournament, the Cougars had one of their best seasons in program history.
Nine seniors lead the way and 20 upperclassmen return to the Spring Arbor roster, this squad is poised to have a successful season under first-year head coach, Nathan Miller.
With both teams winning their respective conference tournaments and making trips to the NAIA National Championship Tournament in 2012, the squads look to continue their winning ways in 2013. This game will certainly be a measuring stick for both programs to see where they stand at the beginning of the 2013 season.
